Charlotte, NC -- Payne Boxing, a boxing management firm with offices in Charlotte, NC and FortLauderdale, Florida, today announced the signing of current IBO World Bantam Champion, Michell Banquez. Banquez is from Venezuela and will now relocate to the Payne Boxing Training Camp in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
“We are very excited to welcome Michell Banquez to the Payne Boxing family,” said Gardner Payne, President of Payne Boxing. “We will continue to build on his already amazing career. That includes defending his current world title and as well as taking on other world title holders from other accrediting and regulatory entities.”
Banquez became the IBO World Champion on July 12, 2019 with a unanimous decision victory over Prince Patel (19-0-1, United Kingdom). Banquez has not fought since 2019 but will look to get back into the ring during the spring of 2021.
“I am very happy to be part of this great company and team of Payne Boxing and to be training in the United States,” said Banquez. “For me. it is a great honor to be part of this amazing team. I know we will conquer other World Titles with the help of Payne Boxing and my world class trainer Luis Chiro Perez.”
Banquez will now train at the Payne Boxing Camp in Fort Lauderdale, Florida under the guidance of Luis “Chiro” Perez. Perez has trained over 20 world champions including former Unified World Champion, Jeison Rosario.
“I’m honored to lead the Payne Boxing camp here in the United States and to have the IBO Bantamweight World Champion Michell Banquez at our camp,” said Perez. “I know with the guidance of Payne Boxing, combined with my experience as the head coach and our conditioning coach Ramon Hayes along with Michell’s tremendous talent, that he will conquer many more titles.”
