Perez oversees all training and coaching at the Payne Boxing Camp. Perez started his career working the corner for most of Don King's fighters, including “Iron” Mike Tyson and training fighters at the World Famous 5th Street Gym. Perez has worked with numerous world champions including, but not limited to Roy Jones, Jr. Paulie Malignaggi, Vicente Mosquera, Ada Velez, Guillermo Jones, Trevol Bryan, Francisco Palacios and many others. Over his career, Perez has worked the corner in over 25 world championship bouts. Perez is currently helping to train Payne Boxing fighters Frenci Fortunato and Juan Carlos Peña and has been in the corner for Alberto Palmetta and Marcos Escudero in recent fights.
Martin put together a historic career in the light middleweight division. Martin’s career spanned from 1989-2012 and consisted of 59 fights in which she collected 49 wins, just 7 losses and 3 draws. Martin won the distinction of the WBC nomial women’s lighweight champion of the world in 1996 and won her first belt in 2009, when she defeated Dakota Stone to win the vacant WBC Women’s Super Welterweight title. Martin retired from boxing in 2012 and since 2016 has been the CEO of Christy Martin Promotions, which has put on professional boxing events across North Carolina and, recently, Florida. Payne Boxing has been working with Martin since 2017 and she has helped to boost the careers of many Payne Boxing fighters, including current belt holder Alberto Palmetta and Marcos Escudero.
